Bioinformatics Associate, Oncology – BillionToOne
Role Overview
BillionToOne is seeking a Bioinformatics Associate to join their growing bioinformatics team in Menlo Park, CA. In this full-time, on-site role, you will work with a talented team to scale analysis pipelines for the Northstar oncology product line to handle high-volume clinical sample throughput. You will report to the Sr. Manager of Bioinformatics, Oncology.
Responsibilities
- Data Analysis: Perform clinical bioinformatics data analysis while maintaining low turnaround times for data delivery.
- Pipeline Development: Maintain and develop sophisticated, robust next-generation sequencing (NGS) analysis pipelines.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with the CLIA lab, Software Engineering, Quality Assurance, and R&D teams to improve and scale clinical workflows.
Qualifications
- Education: BS or MS in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Bioengineering, Physics, or a related field.
- Programming: Very strong programming skills in Python.
- Environment: Proficiency in UNIX command-line environments.
- Infrastructure: Experience deploying code in HPC or cloud computing environments.
- Soft Skills: Excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail.
- Work Authorization: Must be able to work in the United States without immediate sponsorship (Post-graduation OPT for student visas is acceptable).
Nice-To-Haves
- 2+ years of research or industry experience in biotechnology.
- Experience with software development in industry, particularly in regulated environments.
- Experience with molecular biology lab techniques (DNA purification, PCR, electrophoresis) or NGS library preparation.
- Experience leading cross-functional projects involving teams from diverse backgrounds.
Compensation
- Total Compensation Package: $115,655 per year.
- Base Pay Range: $85,331 – $96,050 per year.
