LIMS Associate – BillionToOne
About the Role
BillionToOne is seeking a LIMS Associate to join the Process Engineering team in support of clinical patient testing in their high-throughput CLIA lab. This role focuses on evolving the sophistication of LIMS tools, implementing quality-oriented changes for better data surveillance, managing relationships with external developers, and assessing new systems for future growth.
This is a full-time, on-site position based in either Menlo Park or Union City, CA, reporting to the Associate Director of Process Engineering.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with wet lab scientists to understand workflows and data flow needs.
- Perform routine LIMS systems and software maintenance.
- Design and implement LIMS workflows and support new assay launches.
- Manage existing LIMS workflows, their operations, lifecycle, and data.
- Manage the full release process, including validation, training coordination, documentation, and deployments.
- Liaise with external developers (e.g., Semaphore Solutions for Labbit LIMS) and third-party contractors.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and correct technical issues (e.g., bugs and outages).
- Triage and escalate unresolved issues.
- Network with internal stakeholders to develop new technologies.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation (SOPs, Policies).
- Create workflow diagrams for current and proposed lab processes.
- Ensure compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements.
- Provide end-to-end support for tickets requiring system changes.
- Train SMEs (Software Engineering, Data Science, CLIA) on LIMS API and data warehouse.
- Onboard personnel to LIMS and define roles/responsibilities.
- Assist in establishing feature scope based on goals and timelines.
- Monitor KPIs and ensure timely progress toward company goals.

Nice-To-Haves
- Experience with Illumina NGS workflows or high-throughput molecular biology workflows.
- Experience developing scripting solutions for automation in a fast-paced/agile setting.
- Experience with automated liquid handlers and software integrations.
- Familiarity with AWS S3, EC2, and cloud applications.
- Familiarity with structured data types (e.g., JSON) and REST APIs.
- Experience with the Labbit LIMS platform or other LIMS products (Clarity, STARLIMS, Labvantage, etc.).
- Familiarity with Quality Management Systems (e.g., Arena) and regulations (CFR 21 Part 11, ISO 13485).
- Data analysis skills using Excel, SQL, R, and/or Python.
- Experience with ticket support and bioinformatics pipelines.

Compensation
- Total Compensation Package: $104,322 per year.
- Base Pay Range: $75,029 - $85,748 per year.
- Includes generous equity options and a corporate bonus program.
